Hi Arielle, I just had a hysterectomy in July due to endometriosis. When the pathology results came back it turned out I had adenomyosis as well.I was worked up for that possibility about 18mos.- 2yrs. ago by MRI but nothing showed up except. endo. My symptoms were mostly the same as what I had with endo.except I also had pain not related to my menstrual cycle, and I bled a lot - I would have 2 "periods" a month lasting for over a week, and end up spotting throughout.I don't actually know what point I was at as far as the adenomyosis goes, but my Doctor did tell me the symptoms get progressively worse.I did read up a bit on the disease, and they can do a surgery sort of like a myomectomy and remove diseased sections if the disease is focal (localized in certain areas)and you can preserve your uterus. If it's diffuse (spread throughout)that particular surgery isn't really effective. They can also prescribe Lupron, but it's relief is temporary. If you have any questions or want totalk feel free to email me. Take care, Sara'
