Hi Kristina, It's me again.I just wanted to ask if you have had more than one opinion regarding the surgery. It's definitely worth it to get two or three other opinions before commiting to the surgery.I was just a little concerned when I read that the Doctor would consider putting you on estrogen replacement right after surgery, you really do need to wait for a few months after the surgery before starting estrogen otherwise any endo left behind (and there is usually some left, whether it's microscopic, or on areas where it can't be safely removed)the estrogen replacement "feeds" whatever remaining endo you have and you will continue to have problems with endo. You really should get other opinions first, and ask specifically about endo recurrance rates in relation to post-op hormone therapy. By the way the surgery recovery time is 6-8 weeks with restrictions on lifting, bending, etc. and you are out of work for that time period as well.If you have any questions feel free to ask. Sara' TAH/BSO on 7/7/05 for severe endo. and anenomyosis.
