hysterectomy decision-met with doctor today...

First, let me say thank you , thank you, thank you to all of you who have responded. I have tried EVERYTHING except the Lupron shot. I will not do the shot, because I had severe depression problems in my early 20s. My Dr. says also that relief is very temporary, and the disease comes back, often worse than before. I am 35, never married, no children. I have not had an intimate relationship in a long time, because of this chronic pain, I simply don't feel like it. I do grieve the POSSIBILITY of having children being gone. That is the true grief. I do plan to adopt someday. But I will never have the pregnancy experience, the experience of childbirth, nursing or that bond. This grieves me. But, as my doctor said, there is no way I could raise a child feeling this sick. He said there is only a 6% chance of the endometriosis returning after the hysterectomy. Any they could treat that with Femora? But it will be a complete hysterectomy, tubes, uterus and ovaries. I didn't realize I will be in the hospital a few days, and SIX WEEKS recovery at home. He really thinks I am doing the right thing. I am tired of putting my life on hold also, "until I feel better". He said he would put me on estradiol, a natural estrogen afterward to ward off hot flashes. Right now, I only have periods 1-2 times a year. The pain is constant with no real relation to my periods. I have actually almost crashed my car a few times, the pain got so intense. I have GI symptoms also. It is of no help to talk to my mom or sis, they just manage to say all the wrong things, they both had children. In fact, it is better if they don't say anything, just be there. Believe me, this is a terrible decision.
