Re: pain medicationFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Sep 23 08:42:13 2005
Hi T, at the beginning of my endo pain I too had some leftover vicodin, and it helped tremendously. After running out, I asked my gyno for pain meds and she refused because her sister ended up getting addicted and she just doesn't think a girl my age should be taking them. I will let you know, and I'm not saying this to discourage you, but there are many doctors out there who will not prescribe pain meds, and if you ask for a specific one, they tend to look at you as a pill seeker. Some women are lucky enough to have docs who understand their pain and also help them out with the pain. My first gyno thought my pain was all in my head, my second one agreed to do a lap but would not give me pain meds. I also have IC and my urologist would not prescribe pain meds either. The hospital where I live I have been to many times and they basically labeled me as a seeker. Which isn't fair. I know alot of women have this problem either because of their age or their doctors view on pain meds, unless you find a really good one. If your doc won't help you with your pain, I suggest you look into seeing a pain management doctor, or a pain clinic of some sort. Myself and many others have found a pain clinic is the way to go. It is worth a shot to ask your doctor, and just be ready to go in there with reasoning and be sure to let them know how it affects your life when in pain. Let them know you can't function on those days. Everybody has a right to be treated for their pain, nobody should have to suffer. I wish you luck in finding the help that you need, and if you ever need to vent, talk, or whatever, feel free to email me...Take care and god bless...Amanda At Thu, 22 Sep 2005, T wrote: > >I have confirmed endometrosis.
