Re: Anyone heard of intestinal endo?From: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Sep 21 12:17:18 2005
Hi Erin I was diagnosed with endo of the bowel about a year ago. I had severe stage 4 endo and tried the conservative approach to the disease until it finally invaded my bowels. Thats when I said enough is enough. Once I got that diagnosis my gyne referred me to a gyne oncologist to do my surgery. I had so much endo in the cul-de-sac that it had become a palpable mass about 4 cm in diameter. The endo had grown into my bowel and also into the vagina. I ended up having everything removed, a small vaginal resection and a bowel resection. It was the worse case of endo my regular gyne had ever seen and he was shocked as to how fast it had grown. I had symtoms for years and had a lap to see if there was endo and my initial lap came back negative. As soon as I stopped taking the birth control pill the endo grew with a vengence. Within 2 years it had grown into my bowels! I am now 6 months post op and feel really good. My surgeon cut all the endo out (I told him I wanted it cut out and NOT to use a laser). I hope this helps. If you have any further questions please feel free to email me. I don't really frequent this forum much anymore since I've been feeling good. I just check it periodically to see if there is anyone out there that I can help by telling them my story. Best wishes, Karen
