jobs and bossesFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Sep 19 13:28:36 2005
How do you all deal with work and having this issue? My job is very active and involves having to hike, be on a boat, dive, etc. All fantastic unless doing it leaves you in pain, or you can't do it because you are in pain. I feel like my boss thinks I am blowing it out of proportion. When I told her I have to have surgery I got this "What are we going to do with you?" response followed by "I know its no fun to have cramps all the time." I mean I understand that she has no way to know what my pain is like, but it just feels so demeaning. She'll ask me to do stuff that she knows causes me pain and then she'll just stand there and watch. I work for a very small company and I am the only person they turn to in order to get this work done. If I don't do it today, I have to do it later because there is no one else to do it. I went into my field because I didn't want an office job and now office work is about all I can handle. I just don't know how to deal with the situation without making myself look incompetent. Alyson
