I can't answer the instead part 'cause I never could get them to stay put...but, as far as the heat while you sleep I use the ThermaCare heat wraps. They make a size for your tummy and one that will wrap around and fit the small of your back. I use them at night and while I'm working. One lasts about eight hours, sometimes longer. You can buy them at Walgreens (most drug stores probably). Hope that helps! Alyson
