I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. Keep in mind that there are alot of gynecological issues, so be a bit open minded when you see the doctor. However, if you feel your pain is not being taken seriously, make an appointment with a different doctor. The doctor may send you for ultra sounds, gastro intestinal tests, even a cat scan in order to rule out other diseases. A more conservative doctor may want to put you on birth control pills to see how your pain responds before doing anything invasive. If they really think you have endo, they will likely suggest a laproscopy. Its an out patient proceedure and is sometimes the only way they can confirm endometriosis. Just be sure to read as much as possible and take a list of questions with you (you may want to ask what types of problems it could be besides endo, if it is endo how will he/she diagnose it, if the doc suggests meds be sure to ask about all the potential side effects, etc). Again, if you don't feel that you are being taken seriously have your family doc refer you to someone else. Good luck! Alyson
