Endometriosis, Interstitial Cystitis and other Pelvic Pain SyndromesFrom: tlm* (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Aug 30 12:20:49 2005
An often overlooked cause of endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, and other pelvic pain syndromes are acute or chronic misalignments in the lower back, pelvis, and coccyx. Misalignments occur after injuries (especially to the lower back, sacrum, or tailbone), microtrauma (sitting for long periods, driving etc.) or may occur during pregnancy and menstruation due to hormonal changes, which loosen muscles and ligaments. Misalignments result in constrictions in the complex system of urogenital muscles in the pelvis, putting pressure on and causing pain in the bladder. Physical therapy (vaginal/anal) and chiropractic/osteopathic care aimed at the coccyx, pubis, and back can eliminate pelvic pain/bladder pain and return healthy bladder function, often in a short period of time.
