I must say I was surprised to have someone ask about a Dr. in this area! I'm from Spokane and that is where I currently reside. I do not know of an actual "specialist" in this area, but so far I believe my Dr. is doing a great job. He is new to me and so far I am very pleased with him. He takes care of my pain meds without making me feel like an addict, respects my decision to not try lupron and from the first visit he made the time to make sure to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions without being annoyed or giving me the feeling he needed to be somewhere else. Basically my story is, I was seeing my old obgyn and decided to go ahead with the lap due to other problems I had that I believed were caused by the endo. My old obgyn knew of the symptoms I was having and the type, amount and intensity of pain I was experiencing. Due to the fact that I work at Sacred Heart, my insurance would only pay 70% of the lap if I had it at another hospitol and my old obgyn did not have rights at Sacred Heart to do the surgery there. So I opted to have my old obgyn referr me to another obgyn who had rights at SHMC so that my surgery would be covered 100%, that is how and why I am seeing a new obgyn. The new obgyn I am seeing is Dr. Hiss, he works for Northwest OBGYN and is located in the Sacred Heart Dr.'s Bldg across from the hospitol. On my very first visit we discussed my symptoms and then he did a pelvic exam. Because I told him I have painful and frequent BM's on my cycle he suspected endo in that area. While doing the pelvic exam he felt something that brought me an intense amount of pain when he touched it. Since I was on my cycle during the exam he told me he wanted me to come back in 2 weeks to have another pelvic exam and a rectal exam and to do an enema before so he could be sure he knew what he was feeling. I did this, came back and of course, same thing, he felt a nodule. At this point he ordered a colonoscopy and thankfully that came back negative, although the nodule the Dr. felt was also discovered during this procedure, which from my understanding from internet research means I don't have to fear a bowel resection. My previous Dr. did nothing similar. I have not been officially diagnosed with endo, I am having my first lap on the 13th of Sept. My old Dr. told me that getting pregnant would cure me, which I now know is not true so I am happy to be seeing someone else for this. I will post how my lap goes and will be asking several more questions when I go in for my pre op visit. I do know that he excises any endo he finds and from the research I have done and with talking to him he seems pretty knowledgable, although it seems finding a Dr. who at the least takes you seriously is hard enough to find. feel free to email me if you have any questions and I'll let you know how my lap goes. Sorry my response is so long but hopefully it helps you a little! Take care and good luck to you and your daughter!
