TO CLAIRE AND MARLENEFor more information on symptoms and treatment of endometriosis visit www.EndometriosisZONE.org. From: Sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Aug 23 06:59:50 2005
Hi girls, I thought i'd give you my input to see if it helps at all............Basically i was diagnosed with severe Ashermans Syndrome last year which is the technical term for adhesions!! The symptoms i had were my periods stopped completely for about 6 months but each month around the time of my cycle i was in absolute agony for about 5 days, the pain used to be that bad that i was off work and just couldn't move but i never bled!! I had the same pain in the middle of the month too. Eventually my consultant did a Lap and he had to cut away my adhesions which were in the centre of my womb. While he was operating he found that i had severe Endo on both my ovaries which he lasered away. After the op my periods eventually returned but they were only lasting for about 2 days (they used to last at least 6 days!!) Then I started to get really bad pain again, when i walked about i could feel it in the area of my left ovary! I also have sharp pains when i have a bowel movement and when i urinate it can be very painful, its like there is a delay in the flow and then when it does eventually come out it burns and drags!! I had an ultrasound and it looks like my endo is back on my left ovary but there also not sure if i have a chocolate cyst which would need an op, only time will tell!! I'm now taken a hormonal nasal spray that will stop my periods for 6 months. So the symptoms of endo pain for me are: Pain with bowel movements Pain when i urniate Stabbing, sharp pain Dull, aching pain Lower back pain Sometimes a pain that goes into my shoulder Bloating Diahorreah, cramps I must also say that like you Claire i keep getting a throbbing pain (like a heart beat) over my left ovary and i'm gonna ask my specialist what this might be next time i see him! If you want to know more about adhesions i also belong to a website that deals with this condition.........apparently it is very rare but if you've had to have any sort of op to do with your repro system eg D&C, Caesarean etc and they are a bit rough with you then you can scar..............go to http://www.ashermans.org for even more info!! I do hope i haven't scared you both too much, the main thing is your gonna get yourselves sorted. If either have you have any more questions then please do not hesitate to contact me and i'd be only too happy to help if i can. Good Luck and don't feel alone because your not.................. Take good care
