Hi Kim, I am sorry to hear how much you have been through, and your mother also. I can relate. I also live in michigan, I live in mt. pleasant and work in st. johns. I am 25.

I got off birth control last spring, and started getting migraines in october 2004. It seems like it all started there, and in May of this year I started having pelvic pain and irregular periods. I also have been having severe rectal pain at the time of my period for the past year and a half. Endo also runs in my family.

I started with a new gyno in May and she basically ignored my symptoms, told me she thought it was all in my head, and put me on prozac. Which was kind of a good thing to be on it b/c I have anxiety really bad, and since I plan on getting pregnant soon, she told me prozac was safe to take while pregnant. I saw her numerous times, had a pelvic exam, ultrasounds, xrays, urinalysis, you name it, I had it done, except for the lap b/c she didn't believe my symptoms were real. The ultrasound showed a few cysts on my right ovary, which se basically told me those wouldn't be causing pain. I went back to see her for a check up a month later and was having severe bladder problems. She referred me to a urologist. The urologist diagnosed me with interstitial cystitis, and I scheduled an appt. with a different gyno. I saw the new gyno once and she was very concerned and agreed to do a lap a week later, which is this friday.

I've went through about 4 months of nobody taking me seriously. I've been in and out of ER's and Ready Care's and everything was coming up negative. I have already been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, and I've heard endo and IC are the evil twins. I guess 80% of women with IC also have endo. I will find out this friday whether I have endo or not.

My doctor has not prescribed me anything for the pain. I have taken tramadol (ultram) in the past for back pain and it seemed that when I got off the tramadol I started having severe pain, but I cannot take the ultram with prozac.

I completely understand where you are coming from, and I have not had good experiences so far with the doctors I've seen, except for this new gyno, she seems to be really good. The urologist tested me for IC with no anestesia, and from what I've read this isn't supposed to happen. He did hydrodistention. Needless to say, that was the worst thing I've ever been through in my life.

I am still trying to deal with the every day pelvic pain and I believe it is endo as well as the IC, and I am just waiting to find out what it is so I can begin treating it properly.

It's nice to have someone so close to home, this way we can maybe talk about certain doctors in the area, which are good, which are bad. I hope you are doing well, and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Any questions feel free to email me amarion22@yahoo.com

Take care and god bless, Amanda
