Re: Endometrioma'sFrom: S.S. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Aug 17 11:53:48 2005
Hi Sarah, Welcome to the board! I should be an expert in cysts, I have had SO many, but unfortunantly I am no expert. I'll tell you what I know, but I bet there are others who can give you better info. I have never had to have surgery for a cyst, they have eiter gone away on their own or gotten large and ruptured. When they rupture, it is a mind numbing pain that feels like you have been stabbed with a sword right through you. When that happens to me, I take pain meds and go to bed for a few days until the pain stops. I have had some large cysts go away and not rupture and some small ones which almost killed me (not really, it just felt like that!). But usually it's the bigger ones that "pop", in my case anyway. Right now I have a quite a few on my left ovary and I can feel it because the ovary is so tender. If I sit down too hard/fast, it feels like it "moves" my ovary and it hurts, but only for a few minutes. If I walk too much, my ovary will hurt pretty bad for a few hours, up to a full day. I just grit my teeth and wait it out. When I have had laps done, they will sometimes remove any cysts they see while they are in there. This is only a temporary help, the cysts come back rather quickly. Like I said, I am no expert and this is only what I have experienced. I sure hope your cyst goes away on its own! Good luck! -Shannon
