Missy, you are absolutely not a nut case! Please never think that. I do know how you feel though. I have cried buckets of tears after being in pain, finally seeing a doctor, having painful and invasive tests, and then leaving with absolutely no answers. I have been told that my pain is due to IBS, ovarian cysts, stress, food allergies, and the list goes on forever. I have also tried countless treatments for all of these things, but have never found relief. I am in daily pain, which is sometimes so excruciating that I simply stay huddled on the couch all night with a heating pad, watching tv and crying. Unfortunately, practically every doctor I have been to has made me feel like my situation is either my fault or is simply in my head. I have even been told that pain is just part of being a woman!

I also have pain every time I eat, but not to the extent that you do. The only time that I have minimal pain after eating is if I eat something extremely mild that has basically been predigested, like pureed carrots. It seems like I have pain whenever my bowels have to work at all. That is why several doctors have thought I have IBS, but IBS meds, diet and exercise have not even diminished my symptoms. It is for that reason that I am having a lap in September. I am convinced that I have endo.

Are you comfortable with your doc, Missy? Has this surgeon done a lot of laps specifically for endometriosis. Please use someone that is very experienced with this disorder. I have heard so many stories of women going to a doctor that only does ablation or is inexperienced so doesn’t get all of the endo (or doesn’t even see the endo), so their symptoms return soon after surgery. If you are not sure about your surgeon, search this site for another one. There are quite a few recommendations from other women. I am going to see Dr. Albee in Atlanta. I will have to travel about 8-10 hours to see him, but I think it will be worth it.

I wish you all of the best, Missy! Please email me at manei@nc.rr.com if you would like to talk.
