Re: Bowel Resection and scared! Please help. From: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jul 23 13:53:37 2005
Hi Ashley, I am 33 yrs old and am currently 4.5 months post op from having surgery for severe stage IV endometriosis. This was my third surgery in 4 years. I had my endo excised, my remaining ovary removed, my cervix removed, a bowel resection and a small vaginal resection--all due to my endo. My surgery was performed by a gyne-oncologist and let me say, he did a wonderful job. I've only had one minor complication since the surgery, and that is bladder retention. Because there was so much endo in the lower pelvis some nerves which help the bladder contract and send the signal to your brain that you have to pee were severed. I've learned to self-catherize which once you get the hang of it is no big deal. Even with the bladder retention, I've never felt better. You would never know I had a bowel resection as that is working perfectly. If you have more questions you can feel free to email me. My email address is k-gerber@shaw.ca Best wishes. Karen
