Re: Femara

Joyce, I came here to see if anyone else had tried Femara/Letrozole to compare experiences. I've been on it for the last three+ months and am doing very well.

A little background: I had a HUGE endometrioma and, therefore, a laparotomy in 1988 and didn't have a recurrance until last year. In March, after months of shooting pains down my legs, backaches, and bad ovary pain, I was diagnosed with a 6 cm endometrioma on my remaining ovary. I was scared of Lupron and refused the shot, and was glad when my doctor prescribed Femara as an alternative.

I've been taking it daily (along with 5mg of norethedrone) since early April and just had my second sonongram a few weeks ago: my cyst is now only 3cm and my doctor was giddy. I've had almost no side effects (a little breast pain the first few weeks and a little weight gain from increased appetite), but my ovary/leg/back pains are almost completely gone.

I'm surprised to hear so little discussion about this treatment here. I know it's experimental, but it's working for me--so far! *fingers crossed*

Anyone else tried this??? Or am I the lone guinea pig?

Barbara
