Sounds like at least part of your problem COULD be adenomyosis from your
description though it sounds like perhaps more than just that. In any
case, if you go to the search part of this forum up at the top of the
page and put in Adenomyosis and look at some of the posts from 2005
you'll get quite a bit of description from other women that sound a lot
like what you're describing.
Adenomyosis is very common which is actually the reason why doctors say,
"Yes, this does happen quite frequently" and don't seem too concerned.
In and of itself it is not life-threatening except for the fact that the
pain is excruciating, worsens with time and can certainly lead to
homicidal and suicidal thoughts and feelings... I wanted to choke my
gyn with a whole box of OB size pads all tied together! Now that would
be a headline to read!
The fact that you had a previous uterine infection and you are having
the other symptoms, cysts, stabbing pain in shoulder and chest I think
you should have a complete physical including chest x-rays. If you can,
try to get an appointment with an internist rather than a general
practitioner or family practice doctor. Nothing against GPs and FPs but
they just aren't as highly trained in recognizing the 'not-so-obvious'
as internists are.
Do yourself a big favor too, write down pretty much everything you said
here, and then go into more detail about how your life, career and
relationships have been affected by all this, and to the best of your
recollection create at least a 3 month log and continue it. Have
updated copies available to give each doctor as you see them so they
have some real documentation to refer to.
Good luck!
