Re: Frightened about surgeryFrom: D.N. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jun 30 09:22:43 2005
Hi Erica, I can understand your fear of surgery and thinking something might go wrong. It is my suggestion that you might want to be bowel prepped before surgery since you have had surgeries before and you might have adhesions. As far as getting pregnant with one ovary, I can't answer that from personal experience, but women have gotten pregnant with less. I don't know if you have heard about the woman who recently had an ovarian tissue transplant (from her own frozen ovary)after she had chemo for cancer and she has given birth . I can tell you from personal experience that even just a small part of an ovary can continue to act like a whole one for a while. I had a hyst with one ovary removed and then I had the other one removed at another time. Only, they didn't get it all out. I still ovulated and had cycles that felt like periods for about 5 years after. I hope your surgery and recovery go well.
Best wishes,
D.N.
