Re: Mirena Coil & Endometriosis

HI
This is my 1st time on this website, its really strange i should stumble
across this discussion after seeing my gynae about the mirena today!
I had my 1st coil in 2001 and it was perfect no real bleeding or pain
the only side affect was weight gain but was more than happy to have
that above pain! Then things went abit wrong again so a different gynae
did a laparoscopy and at the same time replaced my coil-I had nothing
but grief from it-constant infections and nausea, the bleeding came back
and the pain was worse than ever it was an awful expereince.
I have finally settled with a gynae I trust and would NEVER let anyone
else mess with me-the guy that put the second coil in hadn't put it in
quite right or trimmed the wires hence it wasn't working so I suffered
through that.
The endo got worse so I had another operation to cut it all out and
things were great for a while til it all grew back, in Feb this year my
gynae raised the mirena issue again and talked me into having another
one put it and to be honest it is still 'settling in' I had an awful
time to start with which I still can't get my head round as I had had 2
previous to this one, my gynae explained that putting a coil in women
who have not yet had children can send the womb into shock and it will
try and expel the coil because it sees it as a foreign body.
I persevered and its been nearly 5 months I'm really spotty and slightly
moody but the bleeding is starting to subside but I am happy that it is
definitly 'settling in' now.
I think you really have to trust your gynae alot, my trouble was not
through the coil but through human error when it was put in, which led
to me having trouble with 3rd one initially because my womb didn't like
it-even if the coil is slightly miss placed it won't work.
