cul de sac endometriosis

I have had chronic pain for about 7 months. I initially went to the doctor to be treated for a vaginal infection, thinking that was causing the pain. After 4 months of antibiotics and no improvement he scheduled a laparoscopy. During the lap, he discovered an inflamed appendix and called a surgeon to perform an emergency appendectomy. In his enthusiasm over that (and his belief--which I think is erroneous--that we were looking for infection) he did not remove small amounts of endo and fibriods because they "didn't amount to much". He was certain the appendectomy would have me feeling normal.

Within a week, I was back to being in pain. I'm sure the pain never left but I was healing from the appendix incisions and temporarily forgot about the other pain!

The pain is down low and there is a heaviness when I walk or sit. At certain times, I walk like a little old lady because it hurts to move. Sex is painful.

The OB ordered two ultrasounds and one CT scan and they all found pockets of fluid in the pouch that is located between the vagina and rectum--the cul de sac. He insisted this fluid was from infection and not indicative of endo. I have since found articles on cul de sac endo and I have every single symptom.

He recently wanted to start Lupron, but I declined after reading up on personal testimonials from people. I will live with this pain for a while longer while I decide what to do.

One thing that is at the top of my list is to find a doctor who primarily deals with endo patients. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Can anyone help me with that?

If there is any other advice, I am all ears. This is a new experience for me and I am a bit lost. Also, I had a baby in Oct and the symptoms flared up in December and have never left.

Thank you all, Carrie
