endometriomas and yasminFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jun 20 14:18:54 2005
Hi Everyone, I wanted to see how many of you are taking birth control to control/prevent endometriomas? I had surgery in March 05 for two endometriomas via lap. The surgery went well. The Dr. didn't think I needed Birth Control since the endo was not bad and I didn't have a history of having a lot of pain. I was fine for 2 months and then in May I almost went to the ER for a ruptured cyst. The pain was only really bad for about 40 minutes and then it was a general discomfort and bloating feeling for two days with no appetite. Anyway, went back to my DR. and we found two more endometriomas and I need to have surgery again. So she put me on Yasmin continuously which has stopped all pain associated with the new cysts and I am waiting on a surgery date. I'm trying to decide if I should just have the endometriomas removed, like last time, and keep taking the pill? Or should I have the ovary removed? The reason I'm not sure of what to do is because I am not sure the pill will keep new endometriomas from forming. Any feedback or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Lynn
