Re: opinions please

As you said, it is clear from reading the posts on this board that there is not clear cut & dried forumal of symtpoms with endo. Some women have severe symptoms that never seem to let up while others only have one or two really bad days. There is not real solid explanation for this other than the fact that some people have lower tolerance for pain, their central nervous system is more sensitive to pain, they may have more inflammation in the surrounding soft tissue, etc.

My advice is to go ahead with the lap and get a diagnosis. I don't agree with the doctor already planning to put you through a course of lupron without even having a diagnosis yet though. Lupron is a very strong drug and can have some side-effects that can be anywhere from difficult to near impossible to deal with and is the most common reason for women stopping it during their treatment cycle. It also can have long-term effects that must be dealt with long after the cycle is finished. Lupron is not for everyone but some women have had very good results with it so is certainly worth careful consideration.

Meanwhile, try this during the week just before and during your period - limit your diet to foods that are very low in salt and fat. The lower salt to reduce fluid retention (fluid retention increases inflammation and pressure within the abdomen and pelvis) and the lower fat to reduce the time it takes your body to completely digest which should lessen the nausea and vomiting. Chicken noodle soup and other clear broth type soups, light sandwiches with whole grain breads, yogurt, fresh salads, etc. and see if that helps with the tummy upset during your period. It may not completely eliminate the symptoms but should make it a little easier to deal with. I used to do the same thing. I'd be fine the day before my period and then whammo, my stomach would reject everything I had eaten for the previous 3 days.

good luck and keep reading
