Dear Mel,

My mother wad diagnosed with Endometriosis, as well as ovarian cysts, myomas, and I believe a benign tumor when she was just a teenager. Her doctors at the time told her it was unlikely she could get pregnant, and what was best to cure her pain was a hysterectomy. They gave her less than a 10 percent chance of being able to get pregnant.

My mother and grandmother though did not lose faith. Their constant prayers were answered, my mother became pregnant with me, two years after her marriage to my father. The pregnancy was a hard one. She was bedridden for 7 out of the 9 months she carried me. But my birth showed that despite her many doctors' diagnosis, my mother did get pregnant. After me, she had my sister two years later.

One of my aunts had most of her ovaries removed because of endometriosis and other ailments plaguing her system down there, but she was able to conceive my cousin with what was left of her ovaries.

Because of her situation, my mother always tells me that nothing is ever impossible. And even if the doctors say it is impossible, if nature says you will be pregnant, then it'll happen.

But do what YOU think is best for you. If you still have hope and want to try your best to conceive, then don't have the hysterectomy. But if you don't want to continue on with the pain, then maybe having the hysterectomy will be best for you.

I hope my post here has helped a little bit. And I pray things go well for you...
