new to board: need advice.From: claire (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri May 27 07:11:13 2005
Hi there, Im new here but have been reading the messages for a while now and needed some advice from someone more experienced than myself. Ive had abdo pain now for about 2 years, in the last month it has got much worse, it started with not being able to urinate and my dr thought I had a urinary infection. after a course of antibiotics I could wee but my abdo pain suddenly got worse. The pain is very low down, directly where my uterus is, its one sided when im ovulating. Its dull and crampy, similar to period pain, sometimes it radiates round to my lower back, almost where my kidneys are. Its constant and even very strong painkillers only take the edge of it. When my period is due for a few days before its much worse, almost debilitating, my first few days of my period is agony, with pain radiating down my legs also. My periods are heavy, but strangley start with brown spotting, almost like what you get at the end of a period. I get terrible bloating in my abdomen, much worse whan my period is due, I look pregnant sometimes! I also suffer from nausea, dreadful fatigue, sleep problems, headaches and urinary frequency, especially with my period. My dr thinks its either gynae or bowell, possibley IBS,although I have no bowell symptoms, only occasional constipation which I put down to a poor diet and pain killers containing codiene, a urine test was negative for infection. Ive seen a gynaechologist and he did a trans-vaginal scan, I was ovulating at the time and my right ovary was extremly tender, he said he thought it could be endometriosis. Im booked in for a diagnostic lap tues and am more nervous that ill wake up and its not endo than i am about the procedure. To be honest im pinning my hopes on having a diagnosis as Ill be back at square one if they fine nothing. Please colud you tell me what you think, is it endo?? Many thanks in advance, Claire.
