Hi, I had a lap on Tuesday of last week, and did not work for the rest of the business week. I'm sure everyone's down time varies on this one by a few days, but the nurse that wheeled me out when I left told me that 5 days was the norm. I went back into work on Monday, and missed today, because I had a fever and chills. I guess it depends on how physically active you have to be atwork and how quickly your body heals. The swelling went away after 4 days for me. They use a breathing tube, and I think that most of the discomfort was from that thing the first day. The second and third day it felt like I got ran over by a Mack truck. By the fifth day, I felt a bit better. Today, my stitches just itch a bit,and they are a little red. I called the doctors office today, and they said that it was normal. It is good that you hav someone to help with the kids. You will want it for the first day or two. Especially if they are young. I have a four year old, and all I can say is Thank God my Husband stayed home with us for the first two days. He was a saint.
