Endo or psycho??From: gardenia1116 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Apr 30 23:40:00 2005
I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 12 years ago. I had a laparoscopy done to aleviate the symptoms and I got Lupron shots for approximately six months after that(I no longer see this doctor because I have moved). I felt so good after the procedure and for almost 5 or 6 years after that. Lately, I have started feeling awful again. I am extremely tired all the time and my legs feel like jelly at times, it is very hard to walk across the yard, I have no energy. I have visited doctors in the past but I feel as if I am not being taken seriously, so I did not go for a few years now, I just suffered in silence. I recently visited a local physician who examined me, did an outpatient procedure on me and I had the follow up visit. I was told that everything is ok, I do not have endo. I have been having sharp pains near the area of my ovaries (alternating from one side to the other) back pains, cramps up to 2 weeks before my period and even as soon as my period is over, the cramps immediately start again. I was not prescribed anything for pain or to help with any of my symptoms. I was however, prescribed an antibiotic for the "inflamation"--no help there, still have pain, I was told that the pain I feel near my left ovary is an inflamation. Well today, apparently, the inflamation moved from the left ovary to the right, it hurt to stand or walk, the only thing I could do is lie down and apply heat to the area, that gave me some relief. I know this is a long story but I have cried so much since that last visit to the doctor, again, I feel as if I am being dismissed and that my symptoms are not "bothersome" enough to do anything about. I just want to get some help and to feel better, I am an active person and I am not used to not being able to do things that I enjoy. I plan on getting a second opinion and hopefully some relief. Has anyone else experienced this type of attitude from doctors? I just want to know that I am not alone in this and would love to hear other stories and solutions from people who read this.
