hi julie. if you're having a cystoscopy, you don't have to be under anesthesia. my first one was done that way because it was during my last laparoscopy. but the second cystoscopy was done without any anesthesia right there in the dr office. the only advice i have is to make sure you wear a poise pad on the drive home and be prepared to stop a few times to pee. i have a 10 minute drive from the dr office, and i had to stop about 4 times. lol. you'll pee a lot for a few hours after. but the procedure isn't really painful. it's uncomfortable especially when they insert the scope, but it's really just like being cathetered. when they put the fluid in, you won't notice for a few minutes probably.

good luck. i have endo and IC, and many times it's very hard for me to tell which one is causing the pain.
