Re: Infertility and endo.From: holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Apr 29 22:18:33 2005
no one really knows. i don't have a lot of endo. my tubes and ovaries are always perfect. there are no adhesions. yet we tried for 8 years to get pg before finally having to throw in the towel. we tried all we could to treat it and we tried many fertility procedures. the only other thing we can think is my thyroid. i have graves disease, but my thyroid was radiated twice in 99, and even when it remained stable for a few years, we still didn't have success. so we really don't know. i have no answers for you except you won't know until you try. there are many tests that can be done to check to see if everything else is in working order. you should have blood drawn on day 3 of your cycle to measure follicle stimulating hormone. use ovulation predictor kits to determine when you're most fertile. have a progesterone blood test day 21 or 8 days after ovulation to see if you're actually ovulating. your dh should have a semen analysis. they can do a hysterosalpingogram to check for blockage in your tubes (they usually do a dye test during laps nowadays too). ultrasounds throughout your cycle to determine follicle size and endometrial thickness. there are so many things they check for. if you've been trying for over a year without success, it's a good idea to get checked. otherwise, you normally will have to wait. but it never hurts to get that semen analysis early. as for minimal/mild endometriosis and infertility, the jury seems to be out still.
