Hi Melissa, I know exactly how you are feeling, when I had my first lap I was so scared I did'nt sleep for a week beforehand, I promise you the fear of the unknown is far far worse than the lap itself, its not too bad at all,try to think of it like this all you will feel is a tiny prick in the back of your hand as you go to sleep and next thing you know, when you wake up it will all be over, you will be a bit sore afterwards but I promise its not that bad at all,the worst bit is that they pump you up with gas while they do the lap so they can see everything more clearly and I think thats the worst bit afterwards because it takes a few days for the gas to disperse,or thats how they do it here in the UK,and you feel quite swollen and bloated, the actual wound is very small and you should have no more than 2 or 3 stitches.I found (and I have had 5 of these done now) that if you take pain medication for the first 3 or 4 days and just keep topping up the dose every 4 hours, then its really quite managable and not that bad at all, good luck I will be thinking of you. x
