Hi Melissa, You said this will be your first lap.When are you scheduled to have it done?I think the anticipation is the worst part of the whole thing.You will probably want to give yourself about a week before returning to school/work because you will have some soreness/tenderness after,& you will be tired from both the procedure,the anesthesia, & if you are taking pain meds.The amount of discomfort & time needed to recover depends upon what was done, and your personal tolerance level.You will be given specific discharge instructions to help you know what to watch out for,& what you can & can't do but overall the experience isn't all that bad.If possible, it helps to have someone stay with you for a day or two after you get home.You may also have some shoulder pain afterwards -it's from the gas used during the lap.I am sure you will do fine.
