Re: Endometriosis

There is something highly disturbing about all of these posts that say the same thing, "my doctor told me to get pregnant but I'm only 17, or unmarried, or don't even have a boyfriend!"

Is it just me or does this seem like a highly irresponsible statement for a supposedly well-trained and educated professional to make? I understand that some doctors are under the belief that pregancy cures endo which we all know is not true. It may temporarily put the brakes on it but cure? Not totally likely. We also know that endo has infertility issues and time is certainly not on our side when endo threatens our fertility but still, it just makes me want to slap each and every one of these doctors who has so casually suggested pregnancy to unmarried teenagers and young women who are just trying to get started in life, education and career.

I already had two kids and was well into my 30s before my endo was diagnosed so I never had to suffer the "get pregnant" treatment plan. I also had pretty severe adenomyosis so the hysterectomy I had did completely eliminate any symptoms from endo. I don't know if I still have any bits of it as I do have a single functioning ovary remaining, but if I do I am 100% symptom free for nearly 10 years now.

I am not in any way advising anyone to have a hysterectomy, I feel that should always be a last resort solution for the 'my life is a living hell and I can't function any longer like this' situation.

Sorry for the rant but had to get that off my chest.
