Eileen,

Sorry to hear about your problems and pain. Sounds like it could be endo, but only the lap will tell for sure. I think your Doctor has started you on the right path and it sounds like you have a good Doctor. Birth control may help. I have been on it for years and it does seem to make the endo a little better. I now take them continually, and only have a period about every 4 months, which helps some too.

For me the endo causes pain during and after intercourse, bloating, fatigue, lots of nausea, and constant, dull pain in my pelvic area. I tend to bleed and spot after sex, if I ride in a car too long, or if I lay on my side to sleep. I don't notice much soreness in my breasts. Before I went on birth control, my breasts too would get sore prior to my period, but the pills seem to keep that from happening to me now. I also notice that I tend to run a lot of low grade fevers, whether on my period or not. I will be running a low fever but have no other symptoms of any illness, so I can only assume it is either from endo or something to do with hormone changes in my body.

Just be sure to keep your Doctor informed of how you are feeling and make sure he/she is listening to you. Sounds like you have a good Doctor. It took several doctors several years before anyone even suggested I may have something like endo. I thought I was losing my mind! Do your research and keep your fiance informed too. It is frustrating for men because they can't understand how ANYTHING could effect sex. My husband is very supportive, and always has been, but going to my many doctor appointments, surgeries, etc. has really helped open his eyes even more and realize what endo truly entails.

Hang in there and look to the forum for advice and support. It is a great place to talk to other women who understand. If you ever want to email me privately, feel free.

Hugs! We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers... Amy Meyer
