Re: Endo Research Would like everyones inputFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Mar 29 18:34:44 2005
Hi Stephanie - Here's a brief summary of my experience with endo. I started my 1st period when I was 11. I had to go to gyno with 2nd period because I was bleeding so heavily. The dr put me on b/c pills for 3 months to control the bleeding. When I was 13, had to be rushed to ER because of severe abdominal pain. My mother thought it was my appendix when in fact I was just ovulating. I believe that my endo started somewhere around that time or sooner. I had first lap done at 18. I had severe pain in between my period and had severe cramps with my period. Lap diagnosed endo. I was put on Lupron and then Depo and then Lupron again. All of this was in a 3 year period. At 23 I became pregnant. The dr had already said he didn't think that I would be able to conceive. Unfortunately, I miscarried at 8 weeks. I became pregnant again in 6 months and had a son. He is now 6. I still had pain from endo during my entire pregnancy although it wasn't as severe. Had another lap done about a year and a half later. No endo was found. I decided to start trying to conceive again and became pregnant 6 months later. Once again I had pain and pressure during my entire pregnancy. My daughter is now 3. When my daughter was about 18 months, found out I was pregnant again. I miscarried 7 weeks later. 3 years later, I am still having pain. It's not excruciating...but I am definately aware of it. The dr now suspects that I have adenomyosis since no endo was found in previous lap. Most of my pain is stabbing pain during ovulation and cramps for about 2 weeks. I usually start feeling better as soon as period ends until I start ovulating. It seems like a vicious cycle. I hope this helps and good luck on your paper!!!
