I hope it all turns out the way you need it to Shannon. It's not easy I
know. And your mom was lucky to have a husband who could see that his
family came first. However, I do know that the military, especially
George Dubya's military is not so giving, loving or family-friendly and
many of the enlisted men, whether in combat zones or not, are under a
tremendous amount of pressure to give all to the military and spare none
for themselves or anyone else. It's not fair and it's not right but
then I don't think it was ever meant to be fair.
Anyway, I agree with you now as I did then, your doctor was wrong for
prescribing such a powerful drug without a firm diagnosis of what he was
prescribing it for. They've known since the clinical trials that drugs
such as Lupron and Acutane have long lasting effects that go for months
and even years beyond taking them. That is why they have such strong
warnings and why you are limited to a specific period of use in your
lifetime. The side-effects of any powerful drug can be pretty severe
and will vary from person to person. What is tolerable for one may be
mind-shattering horrible to someone else.
If you feel strongly that you do not want to take any more of the Lupron
then refuse the next injection. You don't have to take it and nobody
can pin you down and force it in you.
Make sure you get a full written copy of your laparoscopy and all
pathology reports. Then, take that with you and seek out a NON-military
doctor. You are not the first woman who has had trouble receiving
proper medical care from military doctors.
Good luck, rest and heal... then move on with your life and hope it
gets better from here.
