Re: Help with endoFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Mar 25 10:36:15 2005
Crystal, The pain medication is a pain RELIEVER not a pain remover. You will still have pain but the medication should relieve it enough - or bring it to a low enough level that you can go about your daily life and not be too bothered for a few hours at a time. Take the medication on schedule and within a few days you should notice each day being a little easier. Sometimes it takes a while for the medication to build up in your blood stream and interrupt the flow of pain signals (which is how pain medications work, they don't remove the source of the pain, just interrupt the signal between where it hurts - the brain - and your perception of pain. Laparoscopy is the only way to 100% accurately diagnose endometriosis and determine the location, type and staging. Sometimes the surgeon can and will remove the cysts, sometimes not, it all depends on what is found at the time. Afterwards your doctor will prescribe the appropriate treatment for you. Meanwhile - read this post for some other information about relieving your endo pain and symptoms through dietary changes: http://forums.obgyn.net/endo/ENDO.0503/0875.html regular physical exercise helps a lot of women too as it increases circulation throughout your body and releases the endorphins that help your CNS cope with pain better.
