Hi Amie, I was diagnosed when I was 20 with endo. I had my first lap in Feb of 04 and they found a lot of endo as well. They burnt it off and took out at much as they could, unfortunatly it didn't help because not too long after recovering did it come back, worse than before. I had my second lap in Oct of 04 they found alittle bit more of endo and removed my appendix because it looked like that was becoming affected also. Then 2 weeks after that I was rushed back into the ER with severe pain, when I say severe I mean I thought I was dying, needless to say they had to do an emergency Laporotomy thats when they make an incision from your belly button down it's about 2 inches long. I guess when they took my appendix out they left a staple inside of me and it got attached to my intestines and caused a severe bowel obstruction. After the second lap I was feeling pretty good, no endo and that means no pain. Then after that emergency laporotomy everything came back. I'm in the process of going on masshealth as I have no job due to everything that happened I got fired so I have no health insurance. After I get masshealth I'm trying a second round of the lupron shot. sorry for babbling on about myself I just wanted to tell you my experience. For the lap I'd give yourself a good 2 weeks to fully recover although it's a minor surgery it does take a toll on your body. If the endo is back I found that when you start getting your periods again you should know. But it's possible you could be pain free for acouple of months depending on how much they got and how much you had. Good luck you can email me anytime if you ever need to talk, I'm a good listener.
