I don't know how this works on losing weight, but one thing that I have found that helps build your stomach muscles without too much strain is yoga. I have a video that is yoga for abs and I've enjoyed it. I hate things like aerobics and this way I get my exercise without feeling like I want to die afterwards. I've also been told that pilates is really good.
