Re: Does anyone have adenomyosis?

Brenda, I was diagnosed in Sept 04 with Adenomyosis during a lap for endo. I was told by my dr that he came to this conclusion because my uterus is deformed, boggy, and the size of a 4-5 month pregnancy with no visible fibroids. I also have stage IV endometriosis. I was put on Lupron for 6 months but I only lasted 3. It did not take my pain away or shrink my uterus, and I started bleeding again which has in turn actually made my pain worse than before I started it. I am waiting to see an RE and hoping he will perform excision surgery for the endo because I am trying to get pregnant again. If I wasn't, I would certainly be considering a hysterectomy with excision for the endo. I am confused though about the ablation for the adeno. I thought once you had an endometrial ablation, you wouldn't need to have another one. This sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it? Why continue to have repeat ablations when you usually can't conceive afterwards anyway? Why not just have the uterus removed? I'm fairly new to this myself and don't have all of the information on possible treatments, please let me know about the ablation - I thought it was a permanent thing not temporary.

Thanks
