First off, every doctor and every thing I've ever read, adenomyosis cannot be positively diagnosed until the uterus is taken out and tested. I was pretty certain, as were the doctors, that I had adenomyosis, but it couldn't be confirmed until after the hysterectomy. I have four children, had very painful intercourse and irregular bleeding, so I opted for the hysterectomy. I'm just now 7 weeks post operation and doing good, back to work and "other things"... If you are certain you don't want anymore children, then I would recommend you have the hysterectomy...it is the only cure, other than menopause, to the symptoms of adenomyosis. I kept my ovaries, so I'm not taking any medication. My surgery was done vaginally, only took about 35 minutes, lost very little blood. Just take your time and ask lots of questions. You can also find out gobs of info on the internet...lots of good medical sites. Good luck!
