Hi Stacie,

Your PCP is part right, anxiety COULD be a CONTRIBUTING factor to the amount of pain you are experiencing but it does not CAUSE endometriosis, somatization, fibromyalgia, or any of the other disorders that seem to baffle doctors. It seems that so many doctors, when faced with something outside their normal daily routine will automatically tell us we are 'anxious, nervous, sleep-deprived, etc.' instead of actually taking some time to do some medical investigative work. They've gotten lazy and spoiled by routine colds and non-life-threatening illnesses.

My advice to you is get a new doctor, or at least don't see this one for anything gynecology related. Some women here will attest to the fact that using natural herbs, etc. has helped them and that's great, but to think of it as a cure for something with as many unanswered questions as Endometriosis is just ridiculous. Until a real 100% cure has been developed you need to do what works to help you live as normal and productive, active life as possible and if that means using natural products or eating a vegan diet or sleeping upside down in a bell tower then do it, but for a doctor to tell you it's all in your head and you're bringing it on yourself because you are an "anxious" person is highly unprofessional.
