Re: 18 with endo - birth control pillsFrom: Lea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jan 29 13:38:33 2005
Your doctor will probably start you out on whatever brand and strength he feels will work best for you. You'll need to give them at least 2 or 3 months before making up your mind whether it is helping or not. If it is not or the side-effects are too much for you to handle then he/she will switch you to a different dosage or even a different brand. Side-effects that you can expect will range from mild to severe: mood swings bloating weight gain sleep disturbance This website has very good information about Birth Control Pills http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/thepill.htm Including a full listing of side-effects, what to do if you miss a pill. Be sure to check out the links at the bottom. This website has a report about Oral Contraceptives and Endometriosis - how they work, etc. http://www.contraceptiononline.org/contrareport/article01.cfm?art=37 Again, be sure to check out the links at the end of the page. Whatever your doctor prescribes be sure to keep an accurate record of side-effects and any changes in your condition good or bad. This will help him/her determine if it's working or not. Good luck!
