>Hi Kathy,

I completely understand your pain, but at your age I think a hysterectomy is out of the question. First, doctors are not sure if a hysterectomy will stop the Endo. There have been reported cases of Endo coming back even when a complete hysterectomy was done. Second, research is coming out on how the reproductive organs are helping to fight other illnesses.

I found out I had Endo when I was 18 years old (I'm 36). I was told most of my pain was in my head and that pain was part of being a woman. I tried all medicines and was never told the side effects. At one point, while on Lupton, I thought I was having a nervous breakdown, I suffered panic and anxiety attacks and I was told to go see a therapist. Most OBGYN's, in my opinion, don't understand Endo and are looking for a quick solution (for them not for you).

After spending many years dealing with pain and frustration, I finally found a doctor who was willing to help me. He told me about all the side effects of all the drugs I was taking (I wasn't going crazy, these drugs cause horrible side effects). He also gave me my life back, I went through an eight hour surgery, where he cut nerves, reconstructive my reproductive organs and overall gave me my life back.

If I am able to find a doctor like him, so are you! The doctor I mentioned above is Dr. John Rock (he used to be at Emory University and is now at LSU).

Also, I no longer see an OBGYN. I only see an IVF doctor. They are more informed about Endo (since Endo are fertility are so closely related).

Good Luck and I hope this info helps you. Cece
