Hi Kathy, I understand what you are going through, and can relate. My Doctor has recommended a total hysterectomy as well.I am in the process of getting second, third,& fourth opinions and have not scheduled a date for surgery.I am 35 years old, and have a small child. It sounds like you have been through a lot,but my main concern for you is to make sure that you have exhausted ALL of the options available to you (medically & surgically) before going the hyst. route.Take as much time as possible to really think things through, research, and get as many opinions as possible first. You are so young,I don't know what your feelings are about children and all that, but it seems so drastic for your Doc. to even suggest it at age 23. I could understand if it was cancer, but most Docs. won't even suggest a hyst.until you are older & completely done with family planning.Granted, there is no cure for this disease - and I completely understand your frustration, and all the physical pain that comes with the territory, but there are other options. If nothing else, just make sure to research the pros. & the cons. and at the very least, please get another opinion before going through with the surgery.Feel free to email if you would like to talk more. Sara'
