Everyone is different and you shouldn't use anybody's else's experience to judge your wife's recovery by. If either of you are concerned enough to come here and ask then you should call the doctor's office. All the surgical notes are there including the drugs used for anesthesia and pain control and the diarrhea could be related to one of those rather than the surgery itself. The gas is usually related to the surgery as the body recovers from the trauma.

Please, make not of any other symptoms your wife may be having, take her temperature to be sure there is no elevation. Report anything above 99 for longer than 24 hours to her doctor. Make note of her pain location and severity and any tender, red or hot spots.

Much luck to your wife for a speedy and full recovery.
