Re: Bowel endo(anus)From: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 24 10:35:24 2004
Hi Dana, I've been diagnosed with endo in my bowels. In July of this year I had a colonoscopy because I was having alot of symtoms of bowel endo. It started with a clear non-odorous mucous discharge from my rectum. I thought I had to have a bowel movement only to pass a mucous discharge. It looked just like clear spit. That went on for almost a year when I started having cyclical rectal bleeding. This was when I went to a doctor to get checked out. I had the colonoscopy and a biopsy of the area was done. The pathology report came back positive for recent hemmorhagic endometrial tissue in the recto-sigmoid portion of my colon. I do experience alot of pressure down there. Mine mostly comes when I've been on my feet for a while. I also have bouts of consitpation which doesn't help with the pressure feeling. I have an appointment with a gyne-oncologist Jan. 4/05 to discuss further surgery to have my endo, cervix and right ovary removed. I may also need a slight bowel resection to remove the endo from my bowels. (I had a sub-total hysterectomy and left ovary removal 2 years ago). On my last doctor visit in November he could feel a 3 cm palpable mass and my endo is visible in the vagina as well so I might also be looking at a resection of the upper portion of my vagina. If you suspect you may have endo in the bowels I would definately mention it to your doctor and see what tests you can do to try and get a diagnosis. Endo is a messy and horrible disease as I am sure you are well aware of and if I've learned anything through this is don't put your symptoms aside. My endo has grown from nothing visible 2 years ago to what I've described above. I hope this helps. Have a great Christmas and best wishes for 2005. God bless.
