Re: I just need some answers and supportFrom: ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Dec 22 22:11:03 2004
Hello Tara, First of all it is ok to feel scared. I was diagnosed with endo via lap in 1994 when I was 27. Today I am 37 and I have 2 beautiful boys ages 3 and 6. I'm not going to say that it was easy. My 6 year old was a clomid baby and my 3 year old was IVF. Up until this month, I have had 3 laps for endo. All have made me feel better for a while, but it has always come back. The middle lap was my worst. It was then that they discovered that my left tube was damaged from stage 4 endo. Without IVF, we were given a 3% chance of conceiving on our own. But we did it!!! I hope that I'm not sounding like abroken record on this site, but I like to share my latest endo lap experience. Long story short, I flew to CA to have surgery with an endo specialist. It was much more than I could have ever hoped for. I had excision surgery for the first time along with the removal of my uterus and left tube/ovary. I decided to search out a specialist basically because my GYN gave me 2 options. Full hysterectomy or a 6 month try of Lupron depot. I opted on the Lupron. It wasn't a good drug for me. Endo pain was gone, but lupron side effects were 10 times worse for me. Lupron is not a cure for endo and neither is a hysterectomy. Full removal of the endo is the best bet I believe. I saw Dr. Andrew Cook and I would love to discuss any of this further if you want. I even have info on his practice I could mail if you email me your address. Good Luck Ann K
