Re: Appt set/lap and hysteroscopyFrom: Lea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Dec 20 17:21:54 2004
You can start with OBGYN.net Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy section located here: http://www.obgyn.net/hysteroscopy/hysteroscopy.asp of particular interest to you are the fact sheets located about 1/2 way down the page. Specifically those of Dr. Hill listed here: http://www.obgyn.net/displayarticle.asp?page=/bibliography/hill Basically, a hysteroscopy is similar to a colonoscopy, in that a lighted scope is inserted through the vagina into the uterus to get a very good look at the condition of things. If found, polyps and such can be easily removed. Because your doctor is planning to perform both procedures together anything that he does find will probably be treated at the same time. Good luck to you and be sure to allow yourself adequate healing time afterwards, even though on the outside you won't look like you've just had surgery, on the inside you'll be a little sore and bruised feeling so prolonged standing, walking or rapid movements are not good ideas. If you have the time to do so, cook up some meals ahead of time and freeze them so the only cooking will be reheating and clean-up will be easier. While you're at it, bake some cookies or other comfort foods for when your appetite is a little low but you need something to nibble on. Happy holidays
