Re: Constant Left Ovary Pain-HELP!

Amanda,

I've been looking into mysterious ovarian pain, too. I'm having a lap in February but my Gyn seems skeptical that my problem's ovarian (but I believe it is).

Have you tried going to a pelvic pain specialist? This will be my next step if my Gyn can't figure out what's going on. It seems there are alot of causes for pelvic pain, even gynecologic pain, other than most of the things we typically hear about. Your pain may be ovarian or it may not, but whatever it is, it will obviously require a very thorough and exhaustive investigation. The International Pelvic Pain Society has an interesting website. There's not much there for patients, but some of the doctor's presentations are interesting and enlightening (the language can be a challenge, but you can google various terms). There's also an interesting paper here on the EndoZone, at

http://www.endometriosiszone.org/display.asp?page=congress_humanrepro_metzger

about approaching endo pain from the point of view of looking at the whole pelvis. This approach seems a lot more holistic, and just common sense, to me.

Also, I'd say that if you think your doctor has exhausted all his/her avenues of investigation and you're still in pain, then it's time to go to another health professional for a different perspective. From everything you're going through, it sounds like the last thing you need is to have to fight with your healthcare providers just to have a diagnosis and adequate treatment. You don't need that stress in your life right now! Go to someone who respects you.

I feel for everything you're going through. I hope you get some answers and treatment soon!

take care,

--
Ellen.
