Re: cently DiagnosedFrom: Stacy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Dec 16 12:09:59 2004
Kari, Don't try to pressure your doc into doing surgery that she does not feel confident about doing. You want to find a specialist, someone who knows how to remove any and all endo that might be inside you, no matter where it's hiding. A regular ob/gyn will most likely make things worse either by not excising all of the endo, or because of adhesions that form as a result of the surgery itself. Go to http://www.womenssurgerygroup.com and in the endo section are some FAQ's. Print out the questions there to ask your doc about his/her skill and experience at surgically treating endometriosis. I can't tell you enough how important it is that you find a doctor who knows how to treat endo. Best of luck to you in finding a doctor, and getting some relief!! I so know how you are feeling right now. For most of my life I had doctors and other people telling me that my pain was all in my head, that I needed psychiatric help, and so on and so forth. Even after finding a doc who believed I was in pain, and who diagnosed endometriosis, I did not find real relief until I took matters into my own hands and found (on my own) the very best specialist within driving distance from my house. I was prepared to drive four hours away before I realized there was a specialist here where I live who could (and did) help me. well, I'm starting to feel like a broken record now that I've posted almost the exact same thing several times today.... please, anyone, feel free to email me or ask any questions you might have. I'm no expert, but I have been there done that. My story is at my website (linked in my siggie) but I haven't updated it lately... :)
