Sara, I first want to say I am sorry that you are having pain. Many women have cysts on the ovaries, this is common, but what is not common is that you are having pain in this same area that the simple ovarian cyst was discovered. Let me tell you a little about me, so that I can maybe help. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in Sept. 2001. The same doctor that made this diagnoses also told me that I had cysts on my ovaries (I too was on birth control pills when he told me this), but that they were nothing to be concerned about. I had a lap done and got pregnant with in 4 months of the surgery. The symptoms that I was having before the surgery were coming back, but the doctor was not giving me the answers to my questions, so I found a different doctor. The second doctor discovered that I have PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom) along with Endometriosis. I am not sure if the pain that I had in my lower left side was caused by PCOS or if the Endometriosis came back on that side. All I knew was that I was in pain and I wanted answeres why. This is why I went to another doctor that would listen to me and was wanting to do something about my problems. I was told if you have a cyst on your ovary that rupture, you will know it. You will be in so much pain that it might send you to the hospital. I personally have not had that happen (Thank God). Also if a cyst ruptures afterwards you may have some sign, such as spotting or bleeding. Birth Control Pills help some women to "control" the cyst problems, but not all women. I am living proof. The doctor told me that having your peroid will shead your blood and also the cysts, but in my case it didn't. PCOS is a syndrom that, like Endometriosis, has no cure, but is manageable. Sara are you still on birth control pills? This too can be causing some of the pain. Your pills my be "feeding" your cyst. I don't know, I am no doctor, but these are somethings that you may ask your doctor. And PLEASE ask your doctor, bother him/her, that is what they are there for. Ask them questions. Is the cyst on the ovary or In the ovary, there is a big difference (PCOS is inside the ovary). Have you had your hormone levels checked? Did the doctor discover the cyst by ultrasound? If so, maybe ask for another one to see what is going on. Could this simple cyst be a fibroid? Find out as much as possible, and don't let the doctor leave until you are happy with the answers. Good luck and I hope you will soon find out your answers
